Beginner Painting Course – Starting October 10, 2026, at Art & Hobby Studio

Have you always dreamed of painting but never knew where to start? This course is the perfect place to begin, whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the very first time or looking to strengthen your fundamentals and explore new techniques.

Over the course of 12 sessions, in a warm and relaxed studio environment, you will gradually explore the three most popular painting mediums: acrylic, watercolor & ink, and oil painting. Guided by a patient and experienced instructor, you’ll learn how to transform your ideas into images while developing your own artistic voice.

What You’ll Learn

Module 1 – Acrylic Painting

We begin with acrylics, a versatile and beginner-friendly medium. You’ll learn how to mix and control color, work with different types of brushes, create balanced compositions, and add texture to your paintings. Through practical exercises, you’ll complete a finished canvas painting based on a subject that inspires you. This module provides an excellent introduction to painting, with visible progress from the very first sessions.

Module 2 – Watercolor & Ink

Next, you’ll explore the delicate and expressive world of watercolor. You’ll discover how to work with transparency, build atmosphere and light through subtle layers of color, and develop fluid painting techniques. We’ll also introduce ink techniques, focusing on contrast, line work, and detail. This module encourages patience, observation, and the ability to express a great deal with simple visual elements. You’ll create artworks inspired by a variety of subjects, including landscapes, still life, and portraiture.

Module 3 – Oil Painting

In the final part of the course, you’ll work with oil paints, one of the most traditional and rewarding painting techniques. You’ll learn how to mix and layer colors, create smooth transitions between tones, and understand the properties of oil painting materials. We’ll also discuss drying times and proper care of your brushes and tools. By the end of the module, you’ll complete a personal painting that brings together everything you’ve learned while encouraging you to develop your own artistic style.
